Dosing Guidelines

Dose consumption is low: typically 0.2-3 mg/L of active polymer, determined by jar testing on the raw water to be treated. Unlike most polymer flocculants, ART FLOC 25 PWG is completely soluble at all concentrations and can be fed directly without pre-dilution, which removes the need for make-down equipment; where finer control is preferred, it may also be diluted before injection. Feed via a metering pump into a zone of effective mixing so the polymer disperses before floc formation begins. Because it is effective across a wide pH window, dose adjustments are usually driven by raw-water turbidity rather than pH. Begin at the low end and optimize gradually — overdosing any cationic polymer can restabilize particles.

How It Works

ART FLOC 25 PWG acts through charge neutralization followed by polymer bridging. In raw water, turbidity-causing particles — clays, silts and colloidal organics — carry negative surface charges. The cationic groups along the polymer backbone adsorb onto these particles and cancel the repulsive charge, allowing them to approach one another. The high-molecular-weight chains then span multiple destabilized particles, binding them into compact flocs that settle rapidly or are removed by filtration. Because the polymer itself provides the destabilizing positive charge, it can reduce — and in favorable waters replace part of — the demand for inorganic coagulant salts, lowering sludge volumes. Its backbone tolerates the oxidizing environment of chlorinated systems, and it remains effective across a wide pH window, so performance stays stable through normal seasonal changes in raw-water chemistry. Usage Tips

Keep ART FLOC 25 PWG in closed original containers in a cool, dry, ventilated store out of direct sunlight; shelf life under these conditions is 12 months. Protect it from freezing, which can damage the product, and from prolonged heat. Use corrosion-resistant materials such as polyethylene or stainless steel for tanks, pipework and dosing pumps. Flush dosing lines periodically to prevent polymer film build-up. As with all polymer products, spills are very slippery when wet — recover them with absorbent material rather than water. Wear gloves and safety glasses during handling and refer to the safety data sheet for full precautions.

Yes. It is completely soluble at all concentrations and designed for direct feed, so it can be injected neat through a metering pump without make-down equipment. Where finer dose control is wanted, it can also be pre-diluted before injection.

Is ART FLOC 25 PWG affected by chlorine in the water?

The product is chlorine-resistant, so it keeps its flocculating activity in pre-chlorinated raw water and other chlorinated systems where many polymers degrade. Normal residual chlorine levels used in drinking water treatment do not prevent its use.

Can it replace inorganic coagulants such as alum or ferric salts?

In favorable waters it can reduce — and sometimes eliminate — the need for inorganic coagulant salts, because its cationic charge performs the destabilization those salts provide.
