Corrosion Inhibitors
Industrial corrosion inhibitors for cooling water, boiler feed and closed-loop systems — from CHIMI ART, Egyptian chemical manufacturer since 1977. Technical support included.
Corrosion quietly destroys the most expensive parts of a plant — cooling towers, heat exchangers, boiler tubes and closed-loop piping. Left untreated it thins metal, fouls heat-transfer surfaces, drives unplanned shutdowns and shortens the life of equipment worth far more than the chemistry protecting it. A corrosion inhibitor is dosed into the water of these systems to form a thin protective film on metal surfaces, slowing the electrochemical reactions that cause rust, pitting and scale-related under-deposit attack. CHIMI ART supplies corrosion inhibitors for the three system types where the risk — and the cost of getting it wrong — is highest.
In open recirculating cooling water, cooling towers concentrate dissolved solids as water evaporates, accelerating corrosion of mild steel and copper alloys; inhibitor programmes here protect several metallurgies at once while tolerating the variable chemistry of an open system. Closed-loop heating and chilled-water systems lose little water, so a single well-chosen inhibitor charge protects the system for long periods provided the dose is maintained and monitored, though these loops are sensitive to oxygen ingress and dead-leg stagnation. In boiler feedwater and steam-condensate, dissolved oxygen and carbonic acid attack boiler tubes and condensate-return lines, and corrosion control works alongside oxygen scavenging and pH and alkalinity management as part of a complete boiler-water programme.
The correct product is set by the metallurgy in the system — mild steel, copper, aluminium or mixed — the water chemistry of hardness, chlorides, pH and dissolved oxygen, the system type of open versus closed, and any discharge or food-contact constraints on the outlet water. The wrong choice can under-protect one metal while the programme looks fine on another, which is why selection should be matched to the specific system rather than bought from a generic spec. CHIMI ART's technical team reviews your water analysis and system details and recommends the inhibitor and dose for your conditions.
Inhibitor performance depends on holding the residual within the effective range — too low and protection drops off, too high and chemical is wasted and, in some programmes, deposition is risked. Effective programmes combine an initial passivation dose, routine residual testing, and corrosion-coupon or probe monitoring to confirm the metal-loss rate is actually controlled. We provide dosing guidance and a monitoring approach with every recommendation.
A 49-year Egyptian chemical manufacturer founded in 1977, CHIMI ART supplies industrial water-treatment chemicals — coagulants, corrosion inhibitors, oxygen scavengers and more — to municipal utilities and industrial plants across MENA, Europe and the Gulf, backed by technical application support rather than catalogue selling. Our quality, environmental and occupational-health management systems are ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certified. Talk to our technical team about your cooling, closed-loop or boiler system and we will match the right corrosion inhibitor to your water.
