Polyaluminium chloride (PAC) is a pre-polymerised aluminium coagulant used to clarify drinking water and treat industrial and municipal wastewater. CHIMIFLOC PC 30 is CHIMI ART's liquid PAC grade with 10-12% Al₂O₃, a pale-yellow solution dosed for coagulation, clarification and DAF de-oiling. It is manufactured in Egypt and supplied in drums, IBCs or bulk flexitanks with a certificate of analysis for every delivery.

Applications
Dosing Guidelines
Typical doses are in the range of 10-150 mg/L expressed as Al₂O₃, with lower doses often required than for conventional alum at comparable duty; the optimal coagulation pH is about 5.0-9.0 for most applications. Liquid PAC can be fed neat, directly from the storage tank, or diluted for fine dose control at low flows. Establish the site-specific dose by jar testing against settled turbidity, floc quality and residual aluminium, and re-optimise when raw-water quality changes seasonally.
How It Works
Unlike simple aluminium salts, polyaluminium chloride is partially pre-hydrolysed during manufacture, so it already contains highly charged polynuclear aluminium hydroxide species when it enters the water. These polycations adsorb strongly onto negatively charged colloids, neutralising their surface charge and bridging between particles to build flocs quickly, while additional aluminium hydroxide precipitate provides sweep flocculation of remaining fines. Because much of the hydrolysis is completed before dosing, PAC consumes less of the water's alkalinity than alum, causes a smaller pH drop, and generally performs well in cold water and across a wider coagulation pH window. The result is typically faster floc formation and lower sludge volumes at comparable clarity. Jar testing on the actual water remains the correct way to fix dose and pH for each plant.
Usage Tips
Store liquid PAC in polyethylene, FRP or other non-metallic tanks; shelf life is 12 months in closed containers away from direct sunlight. Keep the storage temperature above 0°C, as the product can crystallise in cold conditions — gentle warming redissolves crystals. Use PVC, CPVC, polyethylene or FRP for pipework, and avoid aluminium, carbon steel and galvanised components. The solution is mildly acidic, so wear gloves and eye protection when handling and rinse splashes with water.
