Dosing Guidelines
CHIMI FLUX Solution is supplied ready to use at 25-30% active content and can be applied by immersion or spray, or dosed into an existing flux bath to restore strength. The working concentration depends on the application: galvanizing pre-treatment typically runs stronger than welding preparation or tin immersion. Because lines differ in speed, steel condition and rinsing quality, establish the working strength through plant trials rather than a fixed figure, then hold it steady with routine density checks and volumetric top-up. How It Works
The active double salt works exactly as in the powder grade: a film of zinc ammonium chloride dries onto the cleaned steel, dissolves residual oxides at dipping temperature, shields the surface from re-oxidation, and promotes fast, complete wetting by molten zinc so the coating forms evenly. Supplying the chemistry as a ready-made liquid changes the process control rather than the chemistry. Concentration is uniform throughout the container, so bath make-up and correction become simple volumetric additions instead of dissolving and mixing solid salt. The mildly acidic solution (pH 4.5-5.5) also gives a light final activation of the steel surface. In welding preparation the same film keeps joint areas oxide-free, and in tin immersion it wets the substrate so tin deposits uniformly.
Usage Tips
Store CHIMI FLUX Solution in closed polyethylene or other corrosion-resistant containers away from direct sunlight; the mildly acidic liquid attacks ordinary carbon steel, so keep it out of unlined metal tanks and fittings. Shelf life under correct storage is 12 months. Wear chemical-resistant gloves and goggles when handling, and ventilate enclosed dosing areas.
